Private Sector Specialist

Job Location: Nigeria

Background

  • CNFA is currently seeking qualified candidates for Private Sector Specialist for an USAID-funded Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services Activity in Nigeria.
  • The project is anticipated to build the capacity of private extension service providers, strengthen linkages between agricultural research institutions and agricultural value chain stakeholders, and leverage resources from private sector to enhance the scalability and sustainability of extension and advisory services in Nigeria.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and execute the overall private sector strategy for the Activity to track the achievement of activity results on private sector engagement;
  • Develop strategic alliances with federal and FtF focus state ministries, departments, and agencies, the private sector, and other stakeholders towards leveraging resources from private sector to enhance the scalability and sustainability of extension and advisory services in Nigeria;
  • Maintain close working relationships and ensure co-ordination and integration of approach and plans with Activity interventions; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Agriculture, Economics, or Business Administration from an accredited college or university;
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in private sector engagement;
  • Demonstrated experience in using collaboration, learning, and adaptation (CLA) approach to improve on private sector engagement;
  • Must demonstrate capacity to form innovative win-win partnerships; and
  • Have strong technical expertise, management skills, and English technical writing and communication skills.

Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Manager

Job Location:Nigeria

Background

  • CNFA is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Manager for an USAID-funded Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services Activity in Nigeria.
  • The project is anticipated to build the capacity of private extension service providers, strengthen linkages between agricultural research institutions and agricultural value chain stakeholders, and leverage resources from private sector to enhance the scalability and sustainability of extension and advisory services in Nigeria.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities under the award;
  • Develop and manage systems to collect and analyze information on inputs, outputs, outcomes, and impact of the Activity;
  • Support training of M&E personnel in quality assurance methods;
  • Develop and update the Activity Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Plan (AMELP);
  • Coordinate Activity M&E with the USAID/Nigeria Learning Project;
  • Report results to USAID in a timely manner; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in monitoring and evaluation, agriculture, statistics, economics, or business administration from an accredited college or university;
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in monitoring and evaluation methodologies (i.e. both quantitative and qualitative data collection, processing, and analysis);
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation, collaboration, learning, and adapting (CLA) approach;
  • Understanding of agricultural production, market systems, and livelihood programming; and
  • Demonstrated practical experience in using monitoring and evaluation and learning activities to inform activity implementation and results.

Deputy Chief of Party

Job Location:Nigeria

Position Summary

  • CNFA is currently seeking a Deputy Chief of Party on the Feed the Future Nigeria Agribusiness Investment Activity. The position will be based in Nigeria.
  • The Deputy Chief of Party will work closely with the Chief of Party to provide technical oversight and management, including the development and implementation of the project’s vision, strategy, and technical direction.
  • She/He will ensure that project activities are high-quality, adhere to USAID technical guidance, and align with global best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Activity will address the constrains that hinder the overall agricultural business environment in Nigeria and improve the levels of agriculture-related investments.
  • The Deputy Chief of Party will be responsible for supporting the following anticipated objectives:
    • Promotion of smart and efficient policy and regulations within the agricultural finance sector,
    • Mitigation of credit risks of agribusinesses and improvement in the services provided by financial institutions to agribusinesses, and
    • Strengthen the readiness of agribusinesses to access and manage investments.

Key Qualification

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant, progressively responsible management experience is required;
  • Master’s degree, or higher, in economics, business administration, public administration, agriculture, or a related field is required,
  • Demonstrated experience and a proven track record of implementing activities focused on agricultural development is required;
  • Technical familiarity in agricultural finance regulations, agricultural finance services, and capacity building for agribusinesses, including technical expertise in at least one of these areas, is required;
  • Experience effectively backstopping and reinforcing long- and short-term specialists, ensuring efficiency in project and grantee activities, maintaining rigorous focus on project indicators, results, and the management of monitoring and reporting is required; and;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English is required, knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
