Background

  • The successful candidate will be Project Director for an anticipated project under the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Global Healthcare Detection and Response Program.
  • The position is contingent upon successful bidding and donor agreement.

    Job Summary

    • The Project Director will oversee day to day operations and implementation of project activities and coordination across a network of partner hospitals.
    • This project intends to enhance detection and response to infectious disease threats globally by developing networks to implement prevention and containment strategies at local, national, and regional levels. Interventions to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats in healthcare, including antimicrobial resistance (AMR), healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), and COVID-19, will be developed and implemented within networks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-

  • Provide administrative, operational, and management leadership to all program activities.
  • Responsible for the oversight of program implementation including the timely deployment of program resources to ensure program success and attainment of desired results/indicators.
  • Lead in the selection and training of qualified program staff and staff supervision to ensure effective operations. In collaboration with human resources, select, hire, and supervise staff, assigning roles and responsibilities and managing performance.
  • Ensure the program produces the specified results in the annual work plan(s) to the required standard of quality and within the time and cost restraints.
  • Oversee budget pipeline development and monitoring and conduct monthly reviews to ensure accountability of all project activities as well as the accurate and timely reporting of financial deliverables.
  • Ensure that the project progresses according to contract and fulfills all contractual obligations.
  • Develop and adhere to a detailed implementation plan in line with the agreed scope of the contract and allocated resources.
  • Develop and adhere to a monitoring and evaluation plan for the successive phases of the program to capture project performance and results. Lead a periodic implementation review process to monitor progress and to identify specific action that may be needed to achieve expected results.
  • Responsible for overall relationship management with partners’ headquarters and project-specific team members; cultivate and maintain positive and effective working relationships, serving as primary focal point for all consortium partners.
  • Ensure full coordination and collaboration is established with the consortium partners, national and sub-national Ministry of Health, and key stakeholders is established.
  • Manage cross-departmental support to partners at all levels, acting as primary focal point for collaboration with departments such as Grants and Contract Management, Finance, Supply Chain and Logistics, Safety and Security, and more.
  • Coordinate with mission Senior Management Team (SMT) to report out project deliverables and improve quality of implementation
  • Represent the program to external and internal parties including agency SMT members (Field and HQ) as well as Donors.

REMUNERATION:-

  • Typically, a Medical Degree, with Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Global Health. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Experience

  • Typically, 12+ years of relevant and progressive experience in multi-year health projects implemented in international development and/or humanitarian settings, including at least 7 years in a senior-level positions providing technical assistance and managerial oversight for high-value, complex, multi-year health projects implemented in international development and/or humanitarian settings; specific experience with health systems strengthening in fragile settings is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a senior-level position leading grant, sub-award/sub-contract, and partnership management related to project implementation.
  • Proven experience working with Ministries of Health (MoH) and understanding of MoH systems at national and sub-national levels; experience working with multiple partners
  • Strong working knowledge of CDC donor regulations and requirements.
  • Progressive leadership in management and proven ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to write technical reports, reviews, program/project documents and conduct presentations.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required.
